my pc eggs hatched today! ...but pc prices have crashed so badly it's hard to imagine that a month ago they were going ten times the lowest price on the ah...

It really bothers me when people say the economy crashed. No, it didn't. It's equaling out because there are so many dragons and exalting isn't very appealing compared to selling. Supply and demand, yadda yadda. This is how economies work. It didn't crash just because you spent 100K one week for a dragon and now they sell for 50K. That just means there are more in circulation than when you bought yours!

my friend does take reserves for a few of her plentiful breeds, not on the forums though, via plurk. Of course they're for hatchlings of a white/white pair and an obsidian/obsidian pair and still are pretty profitable

I think they could potentially go for that. I'd say at least try for that price, and lower the price later if you don't get any bites.

I also use #dragon sales, but I have no idea how widely used that is.

I used to think I hated iridescent. But today I previewed it on a bunch of my dragons and realized it's weirdly amazing on Tundras.

It's still terrible on Faes and Guardians, though. Bleh.

so i was on a dragon reserve list, right?

it ended up a pretty big clutch (four babies!) so even though i was fourth on the list i got to have my chance at the last of the babies

first person got their baby, second person wasn't able to get their baby at the time so asked to get shifted down the list, third person...

... it's been two days and they still haven't made their pick

This is why my reserve list has a 24-hour rule. You don't make your pick, you get bumped down to the bottom (of current babies, that is, not to the next hatching). It's not fair to the people further down the list.

Gonna open an art shop to draw people's dragons. Looking for other opinions on some things:

• Some rules I should set up. So far I have "don't throw a tantrum" but that's it.
• Pricing. So far I'm doing three price ranges: sketches, colored sketches, and finalized art (lineart with color and blood and tears kneaded into it). I'm charging treasure for the sketches (a degree more for color), and gems for finalized art.
• What sort of art would be worthwhile? I'm thinking of offering a drawing of individual dragons obviously, but also of people's perfect pairs, general profile images for the profile page, and headshots of dragons/dragOTPs for the dragon info pages. Is that a reasonable spread or should I look into something else?


Probably will unanon me to some people but here's an example of a really quick (ten minutes tops) colored sketch that I did for someone who did me a very nice favor. I'm not thinking to charge a ton for my work, but I always severely undervalue myself so I could use some objective opinions.

i'm supposed to pay someone for a reserve tomorrow or the next day so i was hanging on to like 300k

i checked the wildclaw scroll prices and was like hey, these are 300k now (they've been 315 for a while), i can afford it

AND THEN I BOUGHT IT

WHY DID I DO THAT

anyway i had to undercut a little so basically what i'm getting at is that there is a slightly cheaper wildclaw scroll in the ah waiting for someone to buy it at a discount and make an ok reselling profit and save me from my own idiocy

I have no comment on the rest of this person's post coz I don't care, I want to know what your guys' thoughts on their stance that having a search by color in the AH would HURT the economy.

I think they're being a little dramatic. I'm sure there would be people that abused it to snipe up shit like obsidian/obsidian, but I can only imagine how many people would be buying MORE dragons because they can actually find what they want (God knows I would be) and, more than that, because people are finding colors that they want, more dragons will be bought, and maybe prices wouldn't be going down to 2K for a starter. (Not that I am hoping prices for starters will leap up to 50K but it would be nice to see a nice neon wing dragon or something not fucking hideous priced at 15K steadily.)

But I'm also new to virtual pet markets, so what the hell do I know.
