I have a purple/mulberry girl who looks almost exactly like your purple/mulberry guy, and shimmer looks fabulous on her:

it is a bit of an expensive gene, though, so if you're a bit short on funds I'd recommend stripes, which pretty much looks great on everything.

you don't necessarily have to buy shimmer from the gem marketplace -- people sell them for treasure on the AH. however, it's also a lot of treasure... so in the end it's really up to you whether you want to try saving up the treasure to buy one on the AH, or whether you're willing to shell out the cash (a shimmer gene from the gem marketplace is 1200 gems, you can buy 1550 gems for $15). ngl I've cashed in for gems myself in the past, so.

Ahahahaha, the gems would be easier for me. I'm not particularly good at the games. /o\ Which is why I'm considering once I get my paycheck.
